Now THAT is good timing. My guess is the bicyclist intended to pose for the photo and bomb it, and didn’t notice the pole 3 feet in front of him. That’s what happens kids… don’t bomb and drive.
the bicyclist may or may not be bombing the pic, but it is clearly posed. His foot is on the ground, leaning on the pole, pushing the bike up by holding the handlebars down.
It is a sculpture in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Several were placed around the city. This guy was just posing for the picture, hence the wide angle of the shot.
I agree we should all just enjoy this and not worry so much about set-ups, etc. Plus, having crashed way too many times on bikes and ATVs let me assure everyone that your body does all sorts of goofy looking things mid-fall what with the trying to save yourself and the abrupt halting of forward motion and balance. Just because the person has a foot on the ground means nothing, just another limb flailing around.
I dunno where this is but the bike looks like the rentabikes they have in Berlin. (you call up the number on the side of the bike, give the operator your credit card details, get the code for the lock and ride the bike at a few cents a minute. when you’re done, you call the number and tell them what street you’re on, lock the bike and ditch it.) Great system, but open to inept tourists wanting to get in on the cycle culture of a european city with no real cycling skills.
Like the bomber in this photo. I experienced epic cycling fail involving pesky stationary objects not getting out of my way last summer.
They have them in vienna too. In fact, although, you can’t see them in this pictures, there’s a huge rack of them right behind the buses. we rented some during our honeymoon.

Don’t drink and cycle. Seriously, folks. That could have been a very important lamp post.
I’m thinking that was posed…

<3 Vienna
I don’t think this is posed, considering my experiences in Austria
Haha! you like vienna? well i guess you havent been in Tyrol bevore, have you?^^
No reason for this shot to be so wide.
No way the rider strikes the pole in such a manner while the bike is in motion.
I call FAIL BOMB!
It seems that you were unable to notice the rather large and important looking building behind the dude(not bicycle dude)
It’s the Vienna Opera house.

Are you sure? This looks a lot like the State Opera Theatre in Vienna…
Have a look here:

The bicyclist is the sculpture, he or she is saying. I think.
yup, definitely Vienna, even the buses are identical.
Yeah def Vienna State Opera. Lived about a block from there for a long time.

Just accept and enjoy its photobombyness… let go of irrelevant tales of set-ups and photoshop.

Good point. When you are falling and/or hitting something at a high rate of speed, you will do anything to stop from hurting yourself.
classic
Ouch.
In yo face!!!
Oooooooooooooooooooooold. But still nice.

I don’t think it has to be posed the building in the background can be the center point. Ah well it’s smooth and priceless even if it was “posed”.
The Right half of the image is much bluer than the left. It’s a cleverly done panorama style pic but shot on two different days.
This is Berlin, in 2005.
This was viral, it is a print advertisement with the text cut off.
If women were poles how would you light one when your face was in it. Just let stand next to getting sucked like this.
Keep the faith
In the ancient battle of cyclist vs. pole………..
pole won
This wasn’t in Amsterdam. The buses are wrong, as is the large building in the background and the language on the sign.
Oh yes, kiss that post
Blurgle took his training wheels off….bummer.
“hey look! a guy thats just about to be put in that one photobomb sit–*BAM*”
I just about spit up on myself as soon as I saw this. Funny sh*t!
Really… This IS the sexiest bomb ever !
